NTPC Ltd. offers one of the best pay packages in the industry. Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs.11225 -4%- 17250 at the basic pay of Rs.11225/- during one-year training. These candidates will be absorbed after successful completion of training as Engineer / Officer in the pay scale of Rs.12000 -4%- 17500 at a basic pay of Rs. 12000/- with a CTC of Rs. 5.3 Lakhs.

Besides basic pay candidates will also be paid Industrial Dearness Allowance. Other Allowances and benefits such as leave, medical treatment, Leave Travel Concession, Provident Fund, Gratuity, Conveyance Reimbursement, HRA etc will be admissible as per company rules in force from time to time during training / after absorption.

• The upper age limit for candidate with graduate degree in the related advertised discipline is 27 years as on 01.01.2008 i.e candidate born before 01.01.1981 need not apply.

Eligible candidates will have to undergo a Selection Test. Based on merit and requirement the list of successful candidates for interview will be made available at www.ntpcjobs.net and will be emailed to such candidates. All short listed candidates will have to appear for Group Discussion and Personal Interview before the Company's Central Selection Board. The final list of candidates being offered, “Offer of appointment” will be made available online.

The selection test will be held in 25 cities as mentioned in the online Application system. Candidates have to choose one of the cities, as Test Center and no change in any circumstance will be considered subsequently. However, NTPC reserves the right to cancel or add any center depending on the response of the candidates for that area / center. Admission to the test will be on production of Admit Card, which is to be downloaded only from the site by the candidates.

The All India Test is scheduled on 04.05.2008 (Sunday). The test can be taken in Hindi or English. Candidates will have to give their choice for appearing in Hindi or English at the time of applying for the post, which cannot be changed subsequently. The test will be in two parts. Part-I will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions of the relevant 6 technical disciplines as advertised. Part-II will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions on Executive Aptitude Test. 1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong / multiple answered question.

1. Reservations and relaxations for SC / ST / OBC (non-creamy layer) / Physically Handicapped (degree of disability 40% or above) candidates will be provided as per Presidential Directives.

2. Category (SC / ST /OBC/ PH) once filled in the online application form will not be changed and no benefit of other category will be admissible later on. The reserve category candidates will be required to submit requisite certificate in the prescribed form at time of interview, if called for.

3. No registration fee will be charged from SC/ST & Physically Challenged category candidates.

4. All SC, ST and Physically Handicapped candidates with passing marks in qualifying examination are eligible for appearing in the test.

5. The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates. It is relaxable by 10 years for PH-General, 13 years for PH-OBC and 15 years for PH-SC/ST candidates.

6. SC / ST / PH candidates appearing for written test will be reimbursed applicable travel expenses as per rule by 2nd class rail fare by the shortest route limited to the nearest examination center to the mailing address mentioned in their registration slip.

7. The OBC candidates who belong to “Creamy Layer” are not entitled for OBC concession and such candidates have to indicate their category as General.

8. Upper age is relaxed by 5 years for the candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir from 01.01.80 to 31.12.89.

The selected candidates who belong to General and OBC category candidates will be required to execute a service agreement bond of Rs. 2,50,000/- to successfully complete the prescribed training and thereafter serve the company for at least 3 years. This amount is Rs. 1,25,000/- for SC/ST and Physically Handicapped Category candidates.

The candidate should have sound health. Before joining, candidates will have to undergo medical examination by the NTPC Medical Board and the decision of the board will be final and binding. No relaxation in health standards is allowed. Further, the candidates with myopia and hypermetropia exceeding + 4.00, squint and color blindness, partial or full, need not apply.

General and OBC category candidates are also required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 500/-. Candidates can either pay registration fee online while applying for the post only through credit card or alternatively through Demand Draft. No other mode of payment would be accepted. If they opt to pay by Demand Draft then it should be in favour of “NTPC Limited” payable at New Delhi. Candidates can visit the online registration site from 1300 hours of 08.03.2008 to midnight of 28.03.2008.

After applying online, candidate is required to download the registration slip generated by the system in duplicate with unique registration number, places for photograph and signature and other details. The candidate has to send one printout of registration slip duly signed along with required demand draft (if online payment is not done). The registration number, name, discipline and category should be written at the back of DD.
